The external world is a series of fortuitous combinations of atoms and the highest good is pleasure, which I interpret as freedom from disturbance or pain. My altruism aims to help people experience more pleasure, whether intellectual or physical, all of which sometimes translates as endeavouring to diminish their pain through an active, empathic presence.
